There's a ongoing Pz IV group build on one of the polish forums and I'm taking part in it with a Pz IV E that I wanted to paint in soviet colors. The Red Army used large numbers of captured german equipment, among them different versions of Pz IV. I don' tknow exactly if there were any Ausf Es in their use, but I don't mind. This group build was the best oppportunity for me to get my hands on this model, and it was lying in my stash for quite a while. The build is a straightforward one, with a minimum of aftermarket parts like turned aerial from RB model, tool holders from Lion Roar and some scratch details, like the damaged muffler made of aluminium sheet foil. I'm also planning to sculpt a crew for this tank.

First I sprayed a layer of matt black acrylic car primer:
Then using tamiya's flat green thinned with leveling thinner I airbrushed a basecoat green:
For the Color Modulation I used a mix of yellow green combined with flat green (and deep green for the deepest shadows):
For the details a selection of Vallejo acrylics was used:
The inner sides of the hatches were painted with light gray to represent the original german panzergrau color:
For the sprockets and idler I used the same selection of paints as for the turret and hull, the tracks were covered with Tracks Primer from Vallejo Panzer Aces range:
Następna część niebawem.
